Paris and B'con!

Bayeux

I'm tempting you with pictures of my recent trip to Paris, so you won't remember how long it's been since I've blogged.  Actually, this is Bayeux Cathedral, part of our day trip to see the Bayeux Tapestry, which was AWESOME.  But you can't take pictures of it (here's a link), so this is the cathedral nearby, which was pretty impressive.

To recap the writing news, there is the good news about the forthcoming Fangborn novel, Seven Kinds of Hell, which 47North will be publishing early next year.  There are the Macavity and Anthony nods for "Disarming," which is an Anna Hoyt story.  That suspense will be ended in two weeks, with my trip to Bouchercon in Cleveland; so many great authors on the slate, and so many terrific stories!  I can't wait to catch up with everyone.

Trianons clouds(This is one we took during a day trip to Versailles.  The storm clouds over Marie Antoinette's Trianons--too heavy handed?)

Until I leave for B'con, I'm editing SKoH, working on the second book, and working on a couple of short stories, yet to be revealed.  So there's no rest for the wicked (or even someone "friends" describe as "not even as evil as Not-Evil Willow"  <g>).

LouisXIII.jpgIn the gardens of the Musee Rodin.  I call it "Vogue."  I suspect Rodin had another name.  It was a rainy, rainy day, but the rest of the weather was very nice, warm, perfect for a lot of walking.

LouisXIII.jpgLouis XIII, in the Place des Voges.  He looks very pleased with himself.  We wandered around the Marais neighborhood, and had a terrific meal at Chez Janou.

small gator Thanksgiving.jpgAlso in Marais; a shop called "Thanksgiving," devoted to, um, American food.  This isn't really what we eat, is it?  I didn't think so.

furtive fangborn.jpgWe spent a long day at the Louvre, mostly in the Egyptian and Near Eastern sections.  Gotta take it a gallery at a time.  This guy reminds me of a furtive Fangborn werewolf; in actuality, he's a jackal on an Egyptian painted sarcophagus.  The colors were very lively.

Egyptian snake sled.jpgMore from the Egptian wing; another sarcophagus vault decoration.  I had no idea snake sledding was as popular back then as it is today.

genie.jpgThis guy is described as a "man-headed bull with wings" (roughly translated from French).  I just liked the ways the shadows were hitting him that time of day.

prance louvre.jpgThis silver winged ibex is one of a pair that would have been mounted as handles on a vase.  I think this is what RuPaul means when she says "Prance, I said!"

More when I get back from Bouchercon and Cleveland!
