Summer = Pretty

We've tried something new this year, and purchased a share in a local CSA. That doesn't stand for "Confederate States of America," but "community-supported agriculture" (my degree is in Am Civ, so it's taking me a while ). While we're still working out the mechanics of use and preservation, there's no denying...it's awfully pretty. And tasty, too.

So far, we've had a variety of lettuces, greens, herbs, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, cukes, squash, and edible flowers. There are also eggs every week--very colorful, in blue, green, white, and brown--and we hope there'll be honey soon.

Hmmm, honey...

Short stories on the horizon!

I have two stories upcoming in two very different, very exciting collections.

"Femme Sole" will appear in Boston Noir, edited by Dennis Lehane. The official pub date is November 2009, but it's now available for pre-order, brought to you by the fine folks at Akashic Books. (N.B. Watch my calendar for the launch in Boston.)

"Swing Shift" will appear in the MWA supernatural anthology, Blood Lust, edited by Charlaine Harris. This will be released in April, 2010. (N.B. This features characters from my Fangborn world, set in the 1940s.)

This is what I adore about short stories. Travel at the speed of light.
