Summer = Pretty

We've tried something new this year, and purchased a share in a local CSA. That doesn't stand for "Confederate States of America," but "community-supported agriculture" (my degree is in Am Civ, so it's taking me a while ). While we're still working out the mechanics of use and preservation, there's no denying...it's awfully pretty. And tasty, too.
So far, we've had a variety of lettuces, greens, herbs, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, cukes, squash, and edible flowers. There are also eggs every week--very colorful, in blue, green, white, and brown--and we hope there'll be honey soon.
Hmmm, honey...

Either that is a humongous zucchini or those are some tiny eggs.
I love CSAs, even though it's almost redundant in California.
It is a humongous zucchini. The one we got after that was even more gi-hugic, with two right angles to it. We named that one "Kong."
It's been a lot of fun, and very educational, so I think we'll stick with it, as we can.
Thanks for stopping by!
